A water park with slides and flumes located in a village to the East of the internation trade City has just been completed and is in the testing stage. The park covers an area of 10,000 square meters and is located in Dayuan Village in Qingkou, helped by 7 million yuan investment.  The opening date has not been annouced yet but we will keep you posted!

A new training school for taxi drivers has been founded in Yiwu to help improve their manners, safe driving skills and knowledge of foreign cultures. In addition the course will be covering self defence skills, emergency response procedures and basic English. This welcome development comes not a moment too soon in my opinion!

Private companies teamed up with government agencies to run the trainning with the aim giving taxi drivers the tools and knowledge to provide a better service for visitors to Yiwu.

The school was founded on June 17th. An estimated 2516 drivers will take part in the intensive training provided thereby October the 20th. The training will be scheduled in the early morning and evenings to fit in with drivers' working hours.

There will be no shortage of taxi's available during this period as the training is staggered to involve only small groups of drivers at any one time.

On 11th June at 8:47pm, an explosion took place in the Dachen District of Yiwu(it's a district that lies the very north of greater Yiwu, about 25 minutes drive from the centre ). One person died in the explosion , two were seriously injured, two moderate injured and 31 were injured in minor ways.

It occurred in a small out-door square where locals and migrant workers usually congregate, having been their haunt for the past 4 years or so.

The exact cause of this incident is being investigated by the police.

This incident has drawn great concern of the government officials of Yiwu, Jinhua(Yiwu is technically part of the greater Municipal region of Jinhua) and Zhejiang Province.

At 0:59:24 on June 2nd, an earthquake measuring 6 Richter scale hit Yilan, Taiwan. Many other areas felt different levels of tremor. However, no damage has been reported so far. Experts advised that this quake was a normal energy release and are determined that there is no connection between this earthquake activity and the Wenchuan earthquake.
